Dan Brooks , CFEd®, CLTC®

President & Founder

Dan entered the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power program after high school. Upon discharge, he purchased the family restaurant business, which he operated for seven years. After his father’s death, he discovered that his dad had lost a small fortune due to bad advice from a stockbroker.

Due to this, Dan decided to enter the financial services industry to learn how this could happen and help others avoid it. In 2004, he completed the Certified Financial Planner coursework, and in 2005, he opened a Registered Investment Advisor firm. Dan is also a Certified Financial Educator and Certified Long-Term Care advisor. He owns both a Financial Advisor firm and a Tax Planning firm based in Lake Mary, Florida.

Dan works with a registered investment advisor firm that manages over $1 billion and is one of the fastest-growing investment groups in the nation. Dan’s specialty is comprehensive retirement planning, including income planning, tax mitigation, catastrophic health care planning, Medicare, Estate Planning, and Generational Wealth.

On a personal level, his proudest accomplishment is raising his daughter as a single father. He enjoys golfing, hiking, traveling, cooking, and discovering new restaurants.

The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, CFP®, is a professional certification granted by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. To attain the right to use the CFP® designation, an individual must satisfactorily fulfill education, experience and ethics requirements as well as pass a comprehensive exam.

Kayla Goldschmidt

Director of Operations

Kayla grew up in a small town in Vermont, where she developed a strong sense of community and a commitment to helping others. Her career path reflects that dedication, spanning several industries that each strengthened her ability to connect with people and manage complex responsibilities.

Kayla began her professional journey in the healthcare industry, where she worked closely with the elderly and gained a deep appreciation for service and compassion. She later transitioned to banking, where she built a foundation in financial operations and client support. From there, she joined a technology company, recruiting web developers and coordinating client needs—an experience that enhanced her organizational and communication skills.

Before joining Xexis, Kayla worked in the financial aid department of a private art school, helping students and families navigate important financial decisions. Now, as Director of Operations, Kayla oversees all aspects of client service and business operations. She manages client relations, paperwork, communications, and the day-to-day functions that keep the business running smoothly.

Outside of work, Kayla’s greatest joy comes from being a mom to her two children. She enjoys exploring new places, spending time outdoors, and creating lasting memories with her family.

Jessica Smith

Office Manager

Jessica developed an early interest in technology while studying computer science in Orlando at the William R. Boone High School. Inspired to continue growing both her technical and business skills, she went on to attend Seminole State College of Florida, where she studied Business Information Management with a concentration in Data Analytics. Her education gave her a strong understanding of how technology and business work together to support smart, informed decisions.

She gained meaningful, real-world experience in finance as an Assistant Property Manager, where she worked closely with budgets, reporting, and day-to-day operations. She later broadened her experience at The Bank of New York Mellon, where she supported financial operations and client services within a global organization. Through these roles, Jessica developed a balanced perspective — understanding both the details behind the numbers and the people they impact.

Today, Jessica combines her background in technology and finance with a thoughtful, solutions-focused approach. She enjoys finding better ways to improve processes, support growth, and help organizations operate more efficiently. She believes in continuous learning and takes pride in doing work that is both meaningful and dependable.

Beyond her career, Jessica’s greatest joy is being a mother. She loves traveling, taking on creative DIY projects, cooking, and entertaining guests. Creating warm, memorable experiences for her family and friends is something she truly treasures.
